Majahuitas: The Jalisco Beach You’re Going to Love

|

Jalisco is one of the Mexican states that can boast a one-of-a-kind beach. Though this one is not particularly long, beachgoers instantly fall under the spell of the colors and feel of the place. The beach we’re referring to is Majahuitas, named after a common local tree.

This article will tell you everything you need to know about this beach, where absolute serenity reins. It’s the perfect destination if you want to disconnect from the outside world and just revel in the beauty of nature.

The Charm of Majahuitas

Its basic charm lies in the natural beauty surrounding the entire beach, considered a true paradise where the sunrises and sunsets can’t be beat.

Majahuitas is just 18 miles (29 kilometers) from Puerto Vallarta, so you can be in this paradise in about a half hour. Once there, you’ll see that there is little human intervention, as it remains nearly intact. With just a restaurant and chaise lounges, you can really commune with nature.

The water is crystal clear, and you can lie back on the fine white sand and sunbathe, soaking in the peace around you. Another of its many charms, though, is the fact that you can observe a range of animal life, both in the water and in the surrounding vegetation. Parrots and different species of fish like damselfish and moray eels are just some examples.

And in the right season, January to March, you might even see dolphins, hunchback whales and sea turtles.

Getting to Majahuitas

Majahuitas Beach is about 18 miles (29 kilometers) from Puerto Vallarta, but no roads go there.

In other words, the only way to get to this beach is by boat, and they leave from:

Boca de Tomatlán (just 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta), where you’ll be charged around $300.00 pesos roundtrip.

Los Muertos Beach, by the wharf, where panga boats, leave at a cost of $240.00 pesos.

Attractions at Majahuitas Beach

While Majahuitas has a hippie look about it and is ideal for relaxing, it also offers other eco-tourism-type attractions amidst the lush vegetation, since the Tuito Rainforest hugs the beach.

Eco-Tourism Fun

The water’s turquoise color and beach’s fine white sand make for a good deal of the eco-tourism pastimes, but there are other aspects to see and enjoy: coral reefs and underwater caves, where it is common to see many marine species up close, trumpetfish and puffers among them.

Fun activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, walks along the shore, swimming in the sunshine, excursions, hiking, kayaking and lots more.

Natural Attractions

The fabulous natural attractions at Majahuitas Beach, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, enthrall both domestic and international tourists. The crystal-clear waters, ever-present flora and fauna, rocky areas and the harmony in the air all combine to make visitors fall in love with this destination.

Such natural attractions have inspired many people to come to celebrate major occasions. For instance, weddings held here, relatively far from civilization, produce beautifully different and very special memories.
